Algaecides and Seasonal Treatments

All swimming pools, including above ground pools, will require the water to be regularly monitored and treated using pool chemicals to maintain water quality. Algae in swimming pools are microscopic living organisms which can easily turn pool water green as numbers increase. These algae will easily enter swimming pools without being noticed. Algaecides are pool chemicals which can prevent the build-up of algae by killing algae before they have a chance to reproduce and turn the water green and cloudy.

We also offer pool chemicals which act as seasonal treatments, including certain algaecides such as Kleen Pool, which can make sure that your pool looks good throughout the year.

Whilst not always harmful, the presence of algae means many millions of spores, which do not look good and can remove sanitisers rapidly. Prevention is better than cure, and regular use algaecides are available such as 'LIQUID ALGAECIDE' or the market leading concentrate 'SUPER ALGAECIDE', where a bottle can last many months. Stubborn black and yellow algae are rare but are effectively treated with 'BLACK ALGAECIDE'.

SEASONAL TREATMENTS

When you start up in the Spring, you may wish to freshen up stones/copings and concrete pool surrounds using 'SPRINGCLENE', which is highly effective in the removal of scale deposits. On opening your pool, as you look forward to Summer, try the benefits of long life 'SUMMERTOP ALGEACIDE', that lasts up to 6 months. Finally on closedown a choice of Winter products exists including 'BLUE WINTERSHIELD' and 'WINTERTOP', two well established algaecide - based formulations for long-term performance and problem prevention.'WINTERTOP' incorporates powerful sequestering agents to reduce/eliminate staining from metal or leaves during the closedown period.
